99. Uterus x500

During pregnancy, a woman’s uterus expands to about 500 times its normal size! The uterus will undergo a dramatic increase in weight during the 9 month of pregnancy.  From about 1-2 ounce to a couple of pounds! The organ’s incredible  ability to stretch is partially made possible due to it is anchored to the pelvis by a number of strong ligaments. These round ligaments attach to the sides of the pelvis and are able to stretch accordingly as the uterus grows. After the elastic female structure has finished ballooning to house a fetus, it will return to back to its prepregnancy size and weight.
