106. Ecstasy could be a cure for cancer.

Researchers have been studying the effects of modified ecstasy on cancer cells. Leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma cells are vulnerable to the effects of the recreational drug, but the dosages required to kill these cells are also high enough to kill a human being.

Ecstasy is attracted to the fat in cancer cells. When ecstasy attaches to a cancer cell, it breaks down the cell membrane, killing the cell. According to scientists, continued research and modification of ecstasy can someday result in a drug that more effectively kills cancer cells while reducing the toxifying effect it can have on the brain. Antidepressants like Prozac may also be used in the same way to fight cancer.
